I am a trainer, teacher, moderator since 15 years now. During the last years I got aware, that the word 'facilitator' which I learnt on my very first "Herrsching seminar" in 2007 fits much better on my professional convictions, goals and methods.
After my M.A. in Pedagogy, Intercultural Communication und Social Psychology at the University of Munich (LMU), I connected my practical work as a trainer with the conceptual work as a research fellow at the Center for Applied Policy Research (CAP) at that University on training programs for adults, experience-based learning and train-the-trainer concepts. So I always had that link between theory of adults’ learning methods and the practise as a trainer for leaders, teachers, social workers and other multipliers.
Another basic link in my work is the connection between the method and the content of learning. It’s obvious: you cannot teach democracy by non-democratic methods. The best way to learn how to interact adequat with others is: interact with them! Learning to be a good leader? Try it out though playing games with your team! Want to increase your creativity? Try it out and learn to know yourself by changing perspectives. Increase your sensitivity within communication through reflecting with others in helpful ways. Be a good performer by being yourself.
Experience-based learning is my method of choice to facilitate learning for life and learning to lead.
